The Toshiba LX830-10F doesn't just act as a replacement for your aging PC, but your TV as well. It has a built-in television tuner that lets you connect it straight to your TV aerial, and with a huge 1TB hard drive, you'll have plenty of space to record your favourite shows. It also comes with a DVD drive, but the lack of Blu-ray as standard is slightly disappointing. You can upgrade to a Blu-ray drive, but it costs extra.
Clear screen
It's well worth getting HD content up on the Toshiba LX830-10F, because its 1080p display is bright and vibrant. Playback is smooth, and viewing angles are good enough that you can sit on a sofa with the rest of the family to watch movies without anyone missing out. The screen also handles touch inputs, and although it's certainly not as zippy as some of the other touch-enabled devices we've tested, it does the job.
Toshiba has included a wireless mouse and keyboard, but these aren't designed with Windows 8 in mind, so there are no specific shortcuts or keys for the new OS.
Of course, if a PC is going to make it into your living room, you don't want it sticking out like a sore thumb. It needs to be slick and stylish - something to show off in your home. As you d expect from an all-in-one PC, the LX830-10F is a million miles away from the large beige boxes of yore. It's far from the slimmest all-in-one we've seen, but although the outsides don't scream cutting edge cool, the insides are powerful enough to keep Windows 8 and your apps running smoothly.
Overall though, we were a little disappointed with this PC. The touchscreen in particular doesn't feel as precise as we've come to expect, and as with the keyboard and mouse, this is a problem that stems from the fact that it wasn't built from the ground up to support Windows 8.
