The Lumia 920 is the largest phone in Nokia's range, packing a 4.5-inch super AMOLED display protected by virtually indestructible Gorilla Glass. The super-bright display ensures luxurious, deep colours, and the screen size makes web viewing and video watching easy. That 4.5-inch display makes the Lumia 920 a seriously big handset, which won't suit everyone's tastes. It's 11 mm thick with soft, rounded plastic edges, and a premium feel that matches any of its competitors.
Style is a big part of Windows Phone, and the Lumia 920 doesn't disappoint. It comes in red, yellow, white and black, and accessories like headphones and speakers are available in matching colours.
The Lumia 920 comes with 32GB of storage, which is plenty for most of us, but can't be expanded using microSD. That means you're stuck with what you buy, but Microsoft SkyDrive gives you an extra 7GB.
Photography is a huge part of the Lumia 920's design, and it's equipped with a brilliant 8MP camera aided capably by a Carl Zeiss lens. The result is one of the best photography experiences of any smartphone on the market.
Unplugged
Our sample handset came with a wireless charging station, which is an optional accessory but so good that we implore anyone to try it. Just place the Lumia on top of the oval-shaped plastic device and watch the phone juice up. It's really convenient, and not having to fiddle about with connectors every time you want to power it up makes a refreshing change.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is a well built and luxurious handset that's great to use, and packed with apps and features. We prefer the slightly trimmer build of the HTC 8X, its main rival, but in terms of photographic performance and quality of the screen, the Lumia 920 is unbeatable.
